Seven years to the day after their first date, Gianna and Mary were married on a warm August afternoon at Little River Inn on the Mendocino Coast. Their wedding was beautifully intimate: only the two of them and their Border Collie–Blue Heeler mix, Biscotti.
They began the day getting ready together in their room, helping one another with their hair and makeup. For the final stages, they separated so they could preserve the anticipation of seeing each other fully dressed. Their first look took place on a sunlit lawn overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Standing back to back with their eyes closed, they first reached for each other’s hands before turning around.
Gianna and Mary exchanged vows beneath two tall pine trees on a quiet hillside above the ocean. After the ceremony, we walked among the eucalyptus trees for portraits before returning to the lawn, where they danced together in the sunshine as the drone captured the surrounding coastline.
We ended our time together with reflections on their relationship and hopes for the future, followed by their first dance with the Pacific behind them. They then settled in for a private dinner and cake cutting as sunset approached — a peaceful ending to a deeply personal wedding day.
For couples planning an intimate wedding or elopement at Little River Inn or elsewhere along the Mendocino Coast, this celebration is a beautiful reminder that a wedding does not need to be large to feel meaningful, cinematic, and complete.
